Old Pueblo Lightning traveled to Fullerton, CA on February 4th to take on a spirited Wolfpack side.
The starting side was vastly different this match because of player availability and injury. Lightning attempted to adjust by focusing on a forwards heavy strategy, defensive turnovers, and opportunistic scores from our backline. While the forwards played their part valiantly, total team defense was not committed, and poor execution of set pieces and core skills, poor reading of the opposition, and suspect decision making at key moments lead to our downfall. The Wolfpack played a 14 player front on defense and made their tackes. Lightning could not find the space behind that front to create opportunity. Fullerton came out as a 15-5 victor.
Team spirits and encouragement were good. A big thanks to the A side players that played 80 minutes and still helped the B-side get some playing time. Standout for the team was Andrea Hite for courageous and attacking defensive skills.
