Round 1 league match
vs Camelback RFC
We traveled with 20 players to Phoenix for the opening match of league play to take on Camelback RFC.
We started slowly not adapting well to their large forward pack and went down 14-0 in the first 20 minutes. We also lost our starting scrum half and captain Brian Welsh in the very early stages. We did respond well and scored three excellent tries by Luis Lizarraga, Micah Sherman and Jeremy Wade. All three tries were converted and at half we had taken the lead 21-19.
In the second half we allowed 2 unconverted tries and to fall to 29-19 with 20 minutes to go. We managed to pull one back with a try by Alvin Harper. Though we exerted huge pressure in the final minutes we ended up losing 29-26.
It was a tough loss, however we showed a lot of heart and determination.
Plenty of positives to build on this week as we prepare for DII Red Mountain at home on Saturday Kick off at 3pm.
Need everyone at practice Tuesday and Thursday dinged up or not. Tuesdays is even more critical to get the reps we need on set pieces and loose play.
