Congratulations to the OPRFC Men's squad for beating Phoenix in Phoenix for the first scrimmage of the season, scoring seven tries to Phoenix's six. Phoenix took the lead early by going up two tries to none in the first quarter of play, but OP kept fighting, responding with two unanswered tries of their own in the second. OP and Phoenix would trade the lead several times throughout the game. Eventually, however, the Lions' physical play and fitness bested Phoenix. In the final minutes of play, the Lions' defense were able to stop Phoenix from mounting a comeback.
Man of the match: Andrew "Bubba" Norman
Tries: Thompson (2), Cocchi (2), Wade (1), Sherman (1), Norman (1)
This Saturday, both the men and women will travel up to Flagstaff for the Landsharks' annual 10s Tournament. Best of luck to both squads.
