Any player or non-player who wants to be a part of our club must register with OPRFC. All OPRFC members will have access to special benefits, including access to updated news and information, free merchandise, discounts, invitation to club events, socials and more.
Any player who wants to play rugby must also register with USA Rugby. Once these requirements are fulfilled, you will be an official member of our large OPRFC family and have the opportunity to play the best sport on earth.
The Old Pueblo Rugby Football Club is a Tucson rugby club that has grown to feature competitive rugby programs for men (Old Pueblo Lions), women (Old Pueblo Lightning) and under-19 (U-19 Lions) squads. As a 501(c)(3), OPRFC is expanding its reach in a charitable way by supporting various local youth programs and providing more recreational opportunities to underprivileged children curious about trying a different—but phenomenal—sport. For that reason, OPRFC has launched “Engage.”
In addition to running three competitive rugby teams, OPRFC hosts fun-filled, minimal-contact rugby clinics for kids. At the end of each program, OPRFC will give each child an athletic bag including a rugby ball, water bottle and T-shirt. Because rugby only requires a ball and a patch of land, this will give kids the opportunity to share the various games they have learned with their friends.
*The men's squad scrimmaged with 24 players last Saturday and had a social on the field afterwards. Both sides were evenly matched and loaded with both new talent and veteran experience. There is lots to improve on, but the men are further along at this point in the preseason than they were last season and have a lot more matches lined up before the season kicks off in January.
*We are excited to host Big Brother's and Big Sisters of Tucson on October 22 and 23 for two days of clinics with their kids and mentors. OPRFC's new charity "Engage" is designed to provide more recreational opportunities for the local underprivileged youth. This year we have put together 100 athletic kits including bag, ball, water bottle and t-shirt for our kid participants. For more information, check it out.
