Who We Are

The Old Pueblo Rugby Football Club is a Tucson rugby club that has grown to feature competitive rugby programs for men (Old Pueblo Lions), women (Old Pueblo Lightning) and under-19 (U-19 Lions) squads.  As a 501(c)(3), OPRFC is expanding its reach in a charitable way by supporting various local youth programs and providing more recreational opportunities to underprivileged children curious about trying a different—but phenomenal—sport.  For that reason, OPRFC has launched “Engage.”

In addition to running three competitive rugby teams, OPRFC hosts fun-filled, minimal-contact rugby clinics for kids. At the end of each program, OPRFC will give each child an athletic bag including a rugby ball, water bottle and T-shirt. Because rugby only requires a ball and a patch of land, this will give kids the opportunity to share the various games they have learned with their friends.

*Our new website is up www.oldpueblorugby.com. If you want to be a member of OPRFC, receive information, get membership perks and stay in the loop, you MUST register with our site. It takes less than five minutes. This will be our new way of collecting dues, informing the club of events, keeping track of current and past players. Even for non-players and alumni, registering with our site will give you up to date information, membership perks and a way for us to keep track of your occupation so we can send OPRFC members to your business when they need it.

*This August, the women (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and the men (Wednesdays) will have skills training at Estevan Park at 6pm for one hour.  Bring your friends and potential recruits.

*Every Saturdayday at 9am we will be at Estevan for those that want to get some touch in.

*Every Saturday afternoon we will be playing soccer at the Tucson Indoor Sports Complex. You need to wear solid athletic shoes (not cleats) and shin guards. Please show up at least a half hour early so we can get you registered, watch the game before us and develop a basic gameplan. Here is our schedule:

09/17/2016 7:00 PM 8:00 PM Hot Fuzz

CORNHOLE TOURNTAMENT DETAILS:
*Buy-in per team $20
*Tournament starts at 5pm
*You must let me (Matt Schmidt) know of your intentions to play in the tournament and your teammate and team name by August 25th. I will post the bracket on Friday so people know when it is their turn.
*50% will go to support the club, while 50% will go to the top finishers.
*The number of teams that enter will determine whether the tournament is double or single elimination, prize payout and how many top finishers get paid. Stay tuned.

*Practice will begin September 6 and go every Tuesday and Thursday at Rillito Park, the women going from 6-8pm and the men going from 7-9pm.
